Boris Johnson has said that his party's double by-election defeat was a result of voters being "fed up hearing about things I stuffed up."

"You have to think about the criticisms that you get," he said, during an interview with Sky News. He added that voters felt "frustrated" as fresh questions surrounded his leadership. The Conservatives lost Tiverton and Honiton to the Liberal Democrats in the worst ever by-election defeat, while also losing the 'Red Wall' city of Wakefield to Labour.
