'The people of Wakefield have spoken on behalf of the British people, they have said unreservedly: Boris Johnson, your contempt for this country is no longer tolerated,' said Labour's Simon Lightwood, who was successful in the northern England constituency of Wakefield. In the south-west constituency of Tiverton and Honiton Richard Foord of the Liberal Democrats was elected. 'The only decent course of action left open to you is to heed their call and resign,' Foord said in his victory speech. Johnson has said he will 'listen' to voters but will 'keep going'
