Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi escaped unharmed after armed drones were used in a failed assassination attempt at his Baghdad residence on November 7, 2021. Officials say seven of al-Kadhimi’s security personnel were injured and that at least two drones were involved in the attack. No one has claimed responsibility for the assassination attempt, which has raised tensions in the country weeks after a general election that has been disputed by an Iran-backed militia group.
