Leeds leg of HS2 scrapped as 'Northern Powerhouse' downgraded

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has unveiled the government's new rail plans, including scrapping the eastern leg of HS2 to Leeds.

The service will now stop in the East Midlands near Nottingham.

It means the government's plans for a Northern Powerhouse will be downgraded.
