The Tatar Muslim community in Bohoniki village in Poland held a funeral on Thursday for an unknown African migrant who died from hypothermia on the border.

This was the second funeral the community held after a 19-year-old Syrian migrant drowned while crossing a river to the European Union (EU) from Belarus last week.

Thousands of migrants have been stranded on the EU's eastern frontier, barred either from entering Poland or returning into Belarus, in what the bloc calls a deliberate blackmail campaign by Minsk.

Belarus denies fomenting the crisis but says it can help resolve it if the EU lifts sanctions it imposed after a crackdown on protests last year.

Amid the worsening situation of migrants in makeshift camps and cold weather, volunteers in Warsaw cooked soup and sent packages to the camps.
