COVID-19: New Manitoba restrictions target religious services in southern health region
CA, 13 Nov 2021
Manitoba’s chief provincial public health officer Dr. Brent Roussin said on Friday that new capacity restrictions will take effect Saturday in the southern health region due to a surge in COVID-19 cases.
Religious services capacity limits in the region will be reduced to 25 people, unless the facility can divide its physical space to host several cohorts of 25 persons.
Services that are restricted to fully-immunized people will still be held without capacity limits.
Meanwhile, restrictions coming into effect province-wide Dec. 5 will mandate proof of at least one dose of vaccine or a recent negative test required for those 12 to 17 years of age to take part in indoor, recreational sports.
The testing will need to be done at participating pharmacies, and won’t be allowed through free, provincial test sites, Roussin added.
