AFP, 11 Nov 2021
American Keishia Thorpe wins the Global Teacher Prize in Paris at UNESCO's headquarters. The annual distinction -- supported by the Varkey Foundation -- is awarded to a teacher who has made an outstanding professional contribution. The Maryland English teacher was chosen from more than 8,000 candidates, and campaigns for better access to higher education -- especially for non-English-speaking high school students, first-generation immigrants and refugees.
