Colombian military in fresh search for missing children in Amazon rainforest
Telegraph, 31 May 2023
Four young children who are missing in the Amazon after surviving a plane crash a month ago must still be alive, the Colombian general leading the search has said.
General Pedro Sánchez, who is leading the effort to comb some 120 square miles of jungle in southern Colombia, said he was sure the children were alive after several human possessions had been found as well as small footprints.
“If they were dead, it would be easy to find them because they would be still and the sniffer dogs would find them,” Gen Sánchez told reporters, adding that it was odd they remained on the move despite 10,000 flyers telling them to stay in one place being dropped over the jungle.
