Russia's Defence Ministry has claimed that those responsible for Monday's cross-border attack on the Belgorod region had been "driven back" into Ukraine."

In its daily briefing, the ministry said more than 70 attackers had been killed.

"The remnants of the nationalists were driven back to the territory of Ukraine, where they continued to be hit by fire until they were completely eliminated," it claimed.
