Footage obtained by Reuters purports to show an explosion caused by the shooting down of a Ukrainian drone was shot down on approach to Engels airbase near the city of Saratov in southern Russia. The ministry of defence said three soldiers were killed by falling debris after the drone was shot down. The defence ministry also said no planes were damaged as a result of Monday’s attack. Kiev has not publicly commented on the attack.

This drone attack is the second time the Engels airbase has been targeted this month. In the last attack earlier in December three servicemen were killed and two aircraft were damaged.
