Colorado LGBTQ nightclub shooting update after judge unseals 2021 bomb threat case | LIVE
CA, 09 Dec 2022
Officials will hold a news conference on Thursday about the Colorado Springs LGBTQ2 nightclub shooting, which resulted in five people's deaths, after a judge unsealed a 2021 bomb threat case that showed the suspect had threatened to become the "next mass killer."
Anderson Lee Aldrich's statements in the 2021 case, later dropped, have raised questions about why authorities did not seize the suspect's guns under Colorado's "red flag" law.
At least one patron confronted the suspect and grabbed his handgun before hitting him with it and pinning him down until police arrived, according to the Associated Press.
Club Q, a long-standing venue in a modest strip mall, was described by many before the shooting as a safe haven for the LGBTQ+ community.
