Passengers planes shot at and helicopters on strafing runs after arrest of 'El Chapo's' son
Telegraph, 06 Jan 2023
Violence erupted across northwestern Mexico yesterday after authorities arrested the wanted son of Mexican kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman a week before Joe Biden is due to visit.
The operation to arrest Ovidio Guzmán-López, who the US had offered $5 million for his capture, began before dawn on Thursday and involved about 900 army and national guard troops.
Videos showed a helicopter gunship firing on a home just outside the Sinaloa region as security forces struggled to transport Guzmán-López out of the city amid the chaos.
