York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween will provide an update Monday afternoon on the investigation into a shooting at a Vaughan, Ont., condo building on Sunday evening that left six people dead, including the suspect.

In a statement, police said they are working to confirm the identities of the victims and notify next of kin.

In a press conference around 11 p.m. on Sunday evening, MacSween said emergency crews responded to an active shooting call around 7:30 p.m. When the officers arrived they discovered a "horrendous scene where numerous victims were deceased."

MacSween said a seventh person was also injured and was taken to hospital but is expected to survive. An officer shot and killed the suspect, police said.
