China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has announced that it is further easing COVID-19 restrictions. A significant change involves scrapping the amber health code measure for incoming travelers. Under the new measures, those who test negative for their PCR tests will immediately receive a blue code on their health app. HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee said the HKSAR government made the decisions based on data and risks. He said the infection risks from imported cases are lower than those from local infections, so the government believes lifting these measures won't increase the risks of local outbreaks.
