Russia’s defence ministry has said its forces have taken control of the salt-mining town of Soledar in eastern Ukraine. Ukraine has officially denied the statement, as bloody fighting continues over control of the largely destroyed region. Satellite images released by Maxar show the town in ruins since the battle for its salt-mining tunnels began in late 2022.
