Trudeau, Japan PM Kishida speak after meeting on Canada's Indo-Pacific strategy | LIVE

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will hold a news conference with his Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kishida, after welcoming the prime minister in Ottawa to discuss the Indo-Pacific region and energy security.

Earlier, Kishida highlighted Canada's involvement in promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific, where China is seen as a regional challenge. Trudeau mentioned trade missions between both countries will discuss critical minerals in the battery supply chain.

Kishida is visiting Canada as part of a tour of Group of Seven (G7) countries including Britain, France, Italy, and the United States.
