Dnipro, Ukraine: At least five people killed after Russian missile hits residential building
Telegraph, 15 Jan 2023
Five people have died and 27 wounded including children after a Russian missile strike on a block of flats in the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Saturday.
"There are already five dead," Dnipro governor Valentyn Reznichenko said on messaging app Telegram, where he posted a photo of an apartment block reduced to ruins, adding: "27 people were wounded. Among them are six children. All are in hospital."
At least fifteen residents have been rescued from the debris.
Floors 2 to 9 were destroyed in one of the building’s entrances and a fire broke out within an area of around 70 square metres, according to Ukrainian media.
Kyrylo Tymoshenko, the deputy head of the Ukrainian president’s office, said: “[The Russians] are just inhuman. At least one stairwell is gone. Under the rubble there are people who were at home for the holiday.”
Officials continue to search for people trapped in the rubble.
