Taking a question from a reporter the prime minister said: 'I’m a Conservative. I want to cut your taxes, of course I do, because you will work incredibly hard, and I want you to keep more of your money so you can spend on the stuff that you want to.' He warned that getting inflation and public debt down had to take priority over tax cuts but that lower taxes were his goal. 'That is what we are going to do while I’m prime minister. And if we do those things, we will be able to cut your taxes. That’s what I want to deliver.'
