Telegraph, 03 May 2023
Footage has surfaced of the moment a man was arrested outside Buckingham Palace for allegedly throwing shotgun cartridges into the grounds.
Video obtained by Australian television network Channel Seven shows a man being handcuffed at the railings outside the palace before being walked backwards by three uniformed police officers.
The major security incident, which Scotland Yard said is not being treated as terror-related, comes just days before the King’s Coronation.
An area around the royal residence was cordoned off following the incident at 7pm on Tuesday, which came only days before the King is set to be crowned. The cordons have since been removed.
Chief Superintendent Joseph McDonald, said: "Officers worked immediately to detain the man and he has been taken into police custody.
"There have been no reports of any shots fired, or any injuries to officers or members of the public."
