NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and Finnish President Sauli Niinistö will deliver remarks Tuesday as a ceremony is held to officially welcome Finland into the Western defence alliance.
Finland becomes the 31st member of the world's biggest military alliance after Turkey ratified Finland's membership in its parliament, the last country to do so.
"We will raise the Finnish flag for the first time here at the NATO headquarters. It will be a good day for Finland's security, for Nordic security, and for NATO as a whole," Stoltenberg said on Monday ahead of today's ceremony.
Finland's accession to NATO comes as Finnish voters gave a boost to Conservative parties in a weekend election, depriving Prime Minister Sanna Marin of another term.
