France's greenhouse gas emissions are down for the first time since the post-Covid spike. Cipeta, the institution that measures carbon emissions, reports that they were reduced by 2.5 percent in 2022 compared with the previous year. France has pledged to cut emissions by 40 percent by 2030 compared with 1990. So is there real progress or is this improved figure a result of mild weather and reduced business activity due to soaring energy prices?
