Taiwan said it will monitor Beijing’s plans to impose a “no-fly zone” near the island starting April 16, 2023. Chinese mainland aviation authorities notified Taipei of the plan on April 11, the day after Beijing said that People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had concluded its three-day Joint Sword exercises around the self-ruled island. Taipei defence officials said that as of April 12, dozens of mainland warships and warplanes were still being detected near Taiwan.
