Tensions have been increasing over the past few weeks between the Sudanese military and paramilitary troops, reports Regional France 24 Correspondant Bastien Renouil, who provides a bit of background context to the clashes that erupted Saturday in Khartoum, Sudan. The basic facts of which we can be sure are that fighting is underway in several major cities across the country and gunfire has been heard around the presidential palace. However, uncertainty remains over even how many people have been killed and injured, as most civilians continue to seek shelter in their homes.
