Migrants continued to cross the U.S.-Mexico border, a day before a pandemic-era immigration policy, Title 42, was set to expire. Title 42 is a public health policy that allows swiftly expelling migrants during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Homeland Security Department on Wednesday announced a rule to make it extremely difficult for anyone who travels through another country, like Mexico, to qualify for asylum. More than 10,000 migrants were caught crossing at the U.S.-Mexico border illegally daily on Monday and Tuesday, according to the National Border Patrol Council.
