AFP holds a ceremony in Kyiv in honour of our colleague Arman Soldin who was killed near Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine on 9 May. Soldin, was part of the first AFP team to be sent to Ukraine following the start of Russia's invasion on 24 February 2022. In September, he became the agency’s video coordinator in Ukraine, leading the team's coverage and travelling regularly to the front lines in the east and south. Widely praised for his empathy, his courage and his professionalism, the 32-year-old French citizen had, just days before he was killed, finished some final stories depicting both the intensity of the fighting and the threat of death hanging over people outside the headlines.
