The U.S. House of Representatives' committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol is set to hold what may be its final hearing before the upcoming midterm elections.

The 10th public session is expected to delve into former president Donald Trump's "state of mind" and the central role he played in the multipart effort to overturn the election, according to a committee aide. The committee is also expected to unveil "surprising" details including evidence from Trump's Secret Service.

It it not yet known if the committee will continue after the midterms or in the new year if Democrats maintain their control of the House, however Republicans are expected to drop the probe if they win control.
