US midterms 2022: Biden and Trump make last pitch to win voters in swing states as polls open

Telegraph, 08 Nov 2022
Joe Biden’s approval rate dipped to 39 per cent on Monday, adding to worries that the Democrats could face a battering in Tuesday’s midterm elections.

His popularity has fallen to almost the lowest point in his presidency to date, according to the Reuters/Ipsos poll, as voters head to the ballot box today.

Polls will start opening at 6 am EST (11 am GMT) and the first results are expected at around 7 pm EST (12 am GMT).

The latest polling is helping drive the view that Republicans will win control of the US House of Representatives - and possibly the US Senate too.

Republicans could easily win a majority in the House, picking up a net 24 seats, according to forecasts from the University of Virginia's Center for Politics. They may also scrape a slim majority in the Senate.
