Every year, thousands of men, women and children die trying to cross the #Mediterranean. These would-be #migrants leave from Libya, Tunisia, Algeria or Morocco in the hope of a better existence in #Europe, risking their lives in the process. This tragedy has led to the Mediterranean Sea being dubbed the world's largest open-air cemetery. FRANCE 24's Céline Schmitt, Armelle Exposito and Sarah Morris report on the difficult task of identifying the bodies of those recovered. Institutions are also trying to learn the fate of migrants who have disappeared since they attempted the perilous crossing.
