Rishi Sunak is preparing to address the nation for the first time as Prime Minister after he accepted an invitation from King Charles to form a new government.

Liz Truss has urged Rishi Sunak to be "bold" and to target lower taxes as she delivered her final address as Prime Minister.

Speaking in Downing Street, Ms Truss told the nation: "From my time as Prime Minister I am more convinced than ever that we need to be bold and confront the challenges that we face."

Mr Sunak will then travel to the palace when the King will invite him to form the next government.

The new Tory leader will then head to Downing Street where he will make a statement in front of the famous black door of No 10 at about 11.35am.
