A Swedish member of the European parliament, Abir Al-Sahlani, cut her hair during a speech in the EU assembly to show solidarity with anti-government demonstrations in Iran. Al-Sahlani gave a moving address, echoing the mantra ‘women, life, freedom’ heard in protests against the Iranian regime that followed the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in the custody of the country's morality police in September.
