BREAKING: 45 baby deaths at East Kent Trust were 'avoidable'
Sky, 19 Oct 2022
The investigation into the deaths of newborn babies at two East Kent Trust hospitals found that 45 of 65 deaths could have been avoided.
Dr Bill Kirkup, chair of the independent inquiry into maternity at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, said that his panel had heard "harrowing" accounts from families receiving "suboptimal" care.
He said mothers had been ignored by staff and shut out from their own care.
