Distressing RNLI rescue: Migrants resuscitated on Channel lifeboat
Telegraph, 19 Oct 2022
RNLI has released a video of one operation to rescue migrants in the Channel, in which two stopped breathing and had to be resuscitated by RNLI volunteers in windswept waters.
It comes as nearly 37,000 people are now known to have risked their lives making treacherous crossing so far this year after it was revealed 502 made the voyage on Tuesday.
Mr Ling said the “constant exposure to this type of distress” did affect crew members which meant the charity was doing “a lot of work” to look after and support them, through trauma care and therapy.
