Ontario education workers' union speaks as controversial Bill 28 is formally revoked | LIVE
CA, 15 Nov 2022
CUPE's Ontario School Board Council of Unions (OSBCU) is expected to speak on Monday just hours after the government formally revoked Bill 28, which both imposed a contract on education workers and banned them from striking.
The province had passed the legislation on Nov. 3 to prevent an expected strike, but thousands of workers, including education assistants and custodians, walked off the job anyway and shut schools to in-person learning for two days.
Last week, Premier Doug Ford offered to withdraw the legislation if CUPE members returned to work, which they did.
The union and government are not back at the bargaining table.
