A Hong Kong court has fined retired Hong Kong Cardinal Zen and five other trustees up to HK$4,000 (US$512) each for failing to properly register a fund set up to provide legal defence for 2019 anti-government protesters. The now-defunct 612 Humanitarian Relief Fund was established by Zen and his co-defendants. The court’s ruling is seen as a possible prelude to more legal trouble for the defendants, since national security police are still investigating the group’s alleged collusion with foreign forces.
