Germany gas plans: Berlin moves away from Russian gas
Al Jazeera, 24 Nov 2022
One of the main parts of the German government’s way out of its dependence on Russian fossil fuels is to buy Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) from other world suppliers.
To do this requires the building of large terminals on its coastline to allow for container ships carrying the fuel to make port.
While the permanent installations are being built, ministers have also acquired five floating terminals that will each allow for at least 5bn cubic metres of gas to be imported every year.
One of these new installations has been shown to the media.
Al Jazeera’s Dominic Kane went along to see one of those terminals under construction in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.
