A German government spokesperson, Steffen Hebestreit, rejected Boris Johnson’s claim that Berlin wanted Ukraine to fold and give in to Russia. Hebestreit told reporters: ‘I’m tempted to switch to English and say it’s “utter nonsense” what Boris Johnson said.’ Taking a swipe at the former prime minister, he added that Johnson had his ‘own relationship with the truth’.
