Clubgoers fought and stopped a gunman shortly after he opened fire in a LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, killing five people and injuring 18 others, police said on Sunday.

Police identified the suspect as Anderson Lee Aldrich, a 22-year-old man, who was taken into custody and treated for injuries minutes after the shooting broke out at Club Q.

Adrian Vasquez, Colorado Springs police chief, said that two firearms were found at the scene and that the suspect had used a long rifle during the rampage.
