Lancashire police told reporters that there was 'no evidence' at this moment of any 'third party involvement or Nicola leaving that field'. Rebecca Smith, senior investigating officer on the case, warned against unhelpful speculation and 'false information' around the case, but added that evidence is continuously being reviewed, and that this was the police's current working hypothesis.
