Farah revealed he was a victim of child trafficking to the UK in an explosive documentary last year, and under the new legislation may have faced deportation when he turned 18.

Braverman told Kay Burley on Sky News that 'people who are genuine victims of trafficking or modern slavery can claim protection in the UK'. When Burley asked again whether Farah would have been 'booted out' when he turned 18, the home secretary said: 'No, I don't acknowledge that. I think we have very lawful routes for people who are genuine victims of trafficking or modern slavery.
