As the earthquake toll in Türkiye and Syria mounts, The Hub with Wang Guan brings this exclusive interview with Sivanka Dhanapala, the UNHCR Representative in Syria. Dhanapala appeals to the international community to rush help to as many people as soon as possible as the window of time to save survivors shrinks. Syrians had already been "brought to their knees" by the cumulative impacts of 12 years of war, an economic crisis and COVID-19. Now the new tragedy is challenging Syria's generosity to the vulnerable and exacting a heavy toll on people's mental health.
