Ohio officials deliver update on train derailment after evacuation order ends | LIVE

CA, 10 Feb 2023
Officials from East Palestine, Ohio are expected to hold a news conference on Thursday to update the catastrophic train derailment this past weekend. The train was transporting toxic chemicals.

The update comes after officials lifted the area's evacuation order, and after a reporter was arrested during a news conference on the derailment.

The reporter was pushed to the ground, handcuffed and arrested for trespassing while covering a news conference about the derailment of a train carrying toxic chemicals.

NewsNation posted video of correspondent Evan Lambert being arrested Wednesday in the gymnasium of an elementary school in East Palestine where Gov. Mike DeWine was giving an update about the accident.

About 50 cars derailed in East Palestine last Friday, as a train was carrying a variety of freight from Madison, Illinois, to Conway, Penn., rail operator Norfolk Southern said in a statement Saturday. There was no immediate information about what caused the derailment. No injuries were reported.
