New Zealand became the latest country to ban the Chinese-owned video app TikTok from government-linked devices, due to cybersecurity concerns. New Zealand said on March 17, 2023, it would ban the popular app from all devices with access to the country’s parliamentary network by the end of the month. Concerns have grown globally that Beijing may have access to user data through TikTok's Chinese parent company, ByteDance.
