Footage from March 8, 2022, has emerged, allegedly showing captured Ukrainian servicemen being treated at a hospital in Donetsk. On the other side of the conflict, captured Russian soldiers were shown at a press conference organised in Kyiv by Ukrainian authorities. The Russian Defence Ministry admitted on March 9 that the Russian prisoners included some conscripts. This, after Russia’s president said that conscripts would not be involved in the conflict. Officials claim to be seeking to ‘prevent the conscripts from being sent to combat areas and to have the captured servicemen released’.
