Putin to ‘pay a price’ for Ukraine invasion Biden says in his first State of the Union speech

In his first State of the Union address on March 2, 2022, US President Joe Biden quickly turned to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, saying that the West is united in its response against Moscow. Biden announced plans to release 30 million barrels of oil from the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve as part of efforts to stabilise the international market roiled by the invasion of Ukraine. The US leader added that his "top priority" was taming inflation.
