Trudeau attends question period in House of Commons amid Russia-Ukraine conflict | LIVE

CA, 02 Mar 2022
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be attending question period in the House of Commons on Tuesday and is expected to be asked about Canada's support measures for Ukraine as a Russian invasion continues.

Speaking in the House on Monday, Trudeau said Canada’s ministry of immigration has seen an increase in the number of processed applications from Ukraine over the past few weeks and the government is working to swiftly welcome Ukrainians fleeing their country.

The federal government is also looking to ensure more resources for Ukrainians to be able to come to Canada on work permits and to stretch out the permits of those who are already here.

Meanwhile, Canadian financial institutions are now barred from doing any transactions with Russia‘s central bank — a key target for Western sanctions aimed at punishing Russian President Vladimir Putin for invading Ukraine.
