Switzerland welcomes the Year of the Tiger with the largest work of art in the world, featuring a huge tiger projected by Swiss light artist Gerry Hofstetter onto the Eiger North Face in Grindelwald. The projection of a tiger image more than 5 kilometers long and over 2 kilometers tall is a nod to the Chinese lunar calendar and international solidarity. Hofstetter timed the light art to coincide with the start of the Beijing Winter Olympics as a beacon of motivation for athletes and a moment to drum up environmental awareness globally. Tian Wei earlier talked to the artist. He explained how he got this idea and how his team prepared to get the tiger light projection just right.
