Canadian doctors are behind a potential breakthrough in the medical community after reportedly finding a way to change the blood type of a donated organ.

In a new experiment, the first of it's kind, the researchers say they converted donor lungs with one blood type, which is determined by the presence of antigens on the surface of the red blood cells in our bodies, into a universal type.
