Email appears to contradict ministers’ testimony on Quebec's Herron long-term care home

CA, 06 Apr 2022
It’s an explosive revelation: two Quebec ministers were purportedly aware of the crisis at the Herron long-term care facility before the time they said they knew.

“They didn’t act at the right time, they had information. They lied to us," says Liberal leader Dominique Anglade.

An email obtained by CBC Radio-Canada shows that the minister responsible for seniors, Marguerite Blais, and the health minister in 2020, Danielle McCann, were advised of troubling staff shortages at the CHSLD Herron on March 29 and 30, respectively.

This contradicted what they told the coroner that they only learned about the chaotic situation when they read about it in the newspaper.
