COVID-19: Canadian officials provide update on Omicron situation | LIVE

Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs Dominic LeBlanc are expected to hold a COVID-19 update on Friday, alongside other government officials.

Provinces continue to report record numbers of COVID-19 cases amid the spread of the Omicron variant, with health systems being even more burdened as health-care workers contract the virus.

Earlier this week, the federal government has announced more rapid tests to be sent to provinces amid shortages.
