Hundreds of rioting inmates set fire to Krabi town's main provincial prison in southern Thailand on December 17, 2021. The riot occurred after a Covid-19 cluster emerged inside the overcrowded prison, which houses roughly 2,100 inmates. Provincial health staff had found at least 200 were infected. Police and other security personnel were sent to the facility to quell the unrest, and 31 alleged rioters were later detained.
